For over 39 years he has specialized in the leasing and sale of commercial real estate in the Metropolitan New York City marketplace and its surrounding suburbs, with an emphasis on retail properties. In 2007, Marc merged his brokerage company into Sholom & Zuckerbrot Realty. Major clients for Mr. Durst have included Ann Taylor Stores, AT&T Wireless, Planet Fitness, Blockbuster Video, Burlington Department Stores, Chase Bank, Citibank, Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins, Chipotle, Starbucks, PM Pediatrics, City MD, Gothic Cabinet Craft, LA-Z-Boy Furniture, Rainbow Shoppes, Mattress Firm, Toys R Us and McDonalds to name a few. Many of these companies have completed multiple transactions with Marc over the years. Mr. Durst has assisted many retailers with their expansion roll-out programs within the region. On behalf of long-time client Aarons Rent to Own, Marc has assisted the company with 10 (+) store leases and securing a warehouse/distribution center for the company. When Pretty Girl Stores wanted to expand locally, they hired Marc to complete 12 new store locations. Working for regional restaurant chain Dallas BBQ, Mr. Durst has acquired both of their Queens locations in Rego Park and Jamaica. Marc has represented Carter’s Children’s Wear for over a decade and has completed over 25 lease transactions for Carter’s Retail, Inc. In March of 2017 Marc was hired by National Vision Inc. a national chain of 1,200 (+) optical stores to lead their New York expansion efforts for their America’s Best Optical division. Ten stores are currently open in the New York market with several others under negotiation. On behalf of companies such as Horn & Hardart, Inc., J Michaels Furniture, Sleepy’s and SYMS Apparel, Marc has disposed of surplus properties throughout the region. Additionally, Mr. Durst has extensive experience in lease and property acquisitions through bankruptcy auctions. He has been involved with portfolio assets of various companies including Pergament Stores, Lechters Housewares and The Garden City Land Company. Mr. Durst was the lead broker in leasing efforts at the Georgetowne Shopping Center, Brooklyn NY securing several AAA tenants and creating a valuable asset that was sold in 2018. Marc is a licensed Real Estate Broker in NY. He is an active member of The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the Long Island Real Estate Group (LIREG), The Retail Brokers Network (RBN) and sits on the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) Retail Committee. |
